Rio’s d’Sudamerica will host the event, which will feature a distinctively South American mix of buffet items, hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, music and fun. Continuing in the spirit of renewal and rejuvenation, the event will raise funds for much needed air conditioners, tile and paint for the 114-year-old Drummond Montessori Magnet School and is supported by Honorary Chair Alderman Ted Matlak, as well as the Wicker Park & Bucktown Chamber of Commerce and the Bucktown Community Organization.

 

Based on last year’s Cinco de Mayo fundraiser, 150 community members, parents and faculty members are expected to attend. A silent auction and raffle will spice up the evening. The silent auction will offer a variety of enticing items, from day-spa packages to weekend stays at donated vacation homes, as well as donated merchandise from local retailers. Guests also will have a chance to bid on Drummond student art projects, as well as social events with Drummond faculty and administrators – such as an educational afternoon bike tour along the riverfront with Drummond’s science teacher or a tour of the Art Institute with the art teacher.

 

While fundraising for the school is the primary goal of the Tango for Drummond benefit, the event also serves as a relationship builder for the families whose children attend the school and the community in general. So come out and Tango for Drummond, raise a glass to Drummond’s amazing success and mingle with teachers and your community while savoring one of Rio’s South American specialties!

Tickets for current Drummond parents are $35 in advance or $40 at the door; $75 in advance and $85 at the door for all others.
